Point Sampling

Point sampling is better than plot sampling for estimating volume in the vast majority of forest stands. If you can do a plot, you can do a point. The equipment, the plot layout, and, the volume tables are the same. Basal area, volume, stand and stock table, and sample size calculations, are not complicated and can be done in any spreadsheet. Point-Double Sampling

Point-double sampling is the best way to estimate volume. Sampling time can be reduced by at least one-third compared to regular point sampling without losing accuracy. Manual Included

Statistics for Forest Inventory

Statistics is essential for analyzing forest inventories. The way we collect data as we go is an advantage few others have. We can watch our answers become our answers and decide when we've done enough. Manual Included

Using Prior Information in Forest Inventory

Why do we pretend we've never seen a tree before. Why don't we use what we know about volume to increase accuracy and save time. This course shows how we can use our knowledge and experience in cruises. Manual Included (no CFE credits)

Multiple Products with Point Double Sampling

Forest inventories today must consider more products than ever before. A point double sample concentrates volume measurements on fewer points where more time can be spent assessing potential tree products. Products per tree can be based on one called product per tree with ratios for other products or multiple called products per tree.
Products can be recalculated after the inventory if taper equations are used rather than fixed products.

Add Basal Area Points to Increase Accuracy

Have you come up short on required accuracy? Basal area points can be added to an existing cruise to improve accuracy with little extra cost.

Betting on the Confidence Interval

Foresters routinely bet more money than any other profession. Without knowing the odds you are betting blind. Confidence intervals provide the odds to assess your bets.
