Point Sampling
Point sampling is better than plot sampling for estimating volume in the vast majority of forest stands. If you can do a plot, you can do a point. The equipment, the plot layout, and, the volume tables are the same. Basal area, volume, stand and stock table, and sample size calculations, are not complicated and can be done in any spreadsheet.
